What does this mean when buying?

  • An older Matter version is not a defect: what a device does is defined by its device type, not by the version number.
  • New device types (e.g. cameras from 1.5, robot vacuums from 1.2) are only available from manufacturers and in systems that support that version. Whether your system fully supports a device is up to the system, not only the device.
  • Devices can be moved to a newer Matter version by an update if the manufacturer offers it. The update history on each device page shows the certified firmware versions.
